Foundations of Trauma Informed Yoga

at James Island Yoga
Fall Offerings TBA
3 CE Hours
Register here.

This 3-hour training is designed to inspire yoga teachers to infuse their offerings with a trauma-informed approach.
It will provide a foundational understanding of trauma and offer simple strategies for creating a supportive space that encourages grounding and connection.

As yoga teachers, we do not know (and do not need to know) our students’ experiences, however, it is our responsibility to create a space that feels safe and welcoming; a space that prioritizes mindfulness, awareness, empowerment and consent.

During this training, there will be an opening practice guided by the teacher trainer, followed by discussion and guidelines for teaching including: languaging, environment, consent, clear boundaries, options and modifications.

The participants will then practice teaching each other, followed by discussion. The session will close with a guided meditation and time for questions.

*Note: This is a 3-hour module is designed to provide an introduction to trauma-informed yoga practices; further training may be necessary for in-depth practice.
